Tox Recovery uses the Tox protocol — a peer-to-peer communication system with no central server. Your recovery ID exists only on your device. When you need it, our automated bot sends a secure token directly to your Tox client. No phone. No email. No identity.

Tox is an open-source, decentralized, peer-to-peer communication protocol. It was designed for secure, private messaging with no central authority. We chose it specifically because it has no identity requirement.
No central server
Tox has no company, no server farm, no account database. Your Tox ID is a cryptographic key generated locally on your device. It does not exist anywhere else.
No registration required
You do not sign up for Tox. You simply install a Tox client and your ID is generated automatically. No name, no email, no phone number — nothing.
Automated recovery bot
When you request account recovery, our automated Tox bot sends a secure one-time token directly to your Tox client. The entire process is machine-to-machine. No human ever sees your request.
